Frequently asked Questions
Below are a list of FAQs:

01. Why is certification important?

Certification denotes that the professional has taken the extra steps to have an independent board evaluate their knowledge and skills to ascertain that they meet a minimal standard. This gives the clients assurance that the professional is not someone off the street without the needed skill set to safely and effectively handle their needs.

Ask yourself, why a professional wouldn’t seek a certification if available?  What are they hiding?

02. Do you belong to any professional associations?

I am an active member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, Association of Animal Behavior Professionals, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and the International Association of Animal Massage and Body Works.

As we strive to be the best in our chosen professional, we continue our education through monthly webinars, case studies and annual meetings. Without belonging to these organizations it would be impossible to keep up with the latest research and techniques.

03. What method of training do you use?
We offer holistic methods that focuses on the animal. Training is based on science, not pain, force, dominance, or fear. We promote utilizing humane and fun training methods allowing us the opportunity to create lasting bonds and quality relationships between Clients and their pet.

04. Do you guarantee the outcome of your training

A professional dog trainer will not guarantee their training results. There are too many variables involved and a professional dog trainer cannot control these. Instead, as your professional dog trainer we will work in tandem with you to effect the most appropriate behavior change in line with your goals. The results will be dependent on many things, including your level of commitment and compliance to the recommended program. Such a guaratee is against the Professional Code of Ethics for the Pet Professional Guild and the Associate of Professional Dog Trainers. Be very eary of those that do offer such a guarantee as they may not be practicing professionally.

05. Do You Provide Proof of Completed Training?

That depends on the course you select and why you need our services. For C.L.A.S.S training and group training sessions, we do provide certificates of levels accomplished or certificates of completion. For individualized behavior modification, if you meet certain standards we will give you a certificate of attainment.
06. What is the best breed for a service animal (dog)?
There is no simple answer to this question, each breed has dogs that are suitable for service animal work and others that are not. The decisions need to be made about what the handler needs assistance with and what breed best suites those needs. Any breed from the littlest Chihuahua to the mightiest Great Dane can make a fully functional service animal.
07. Are you bonded or have insurance?

Every animal trainer should have insurance and be bonded, but most aren't. We at Dawgma are and we have the best interest of your pet or service animal in mind every time we work with them and you. We are bonded by the Travelers Insurance Company.

08. Why have you attended so many different schools/programs

We believe that continual education throughout our careers is very important to make sure that we are provided the best services to you and your animals. We don’t believe in settling for techniques that just work, we constantly strive to provide you the best services and resources. Continued education is very important in that philosophy.
